| Fire Drum 4 Oc - May 5th sundown to May 6th sundown Mayan astrological calendar has 260 days. This calendar is divided into four sixty five day periods. Each period has a key day-sign standing at the quadrant mark of these periods. These days stand as sentinels of change and reconciliation. The Maya were aware of the flux and flow of energies. These days are called burner days. In the period leading up to these days rituals were performed among which a fire walking ceremony, that is still performed in some Mayan communities. To learn more go to www.onereed.org, site created by Bruce Scofield and Barry C. Orr authors of How to Practice Mayan Astrology. This particular burner day 4 - Oc translates to Dog. Direction is North- the directional symbolism used in Mayan astrology as the activity of north being separation, the process -sacrifice, the realm- objectivity and the power- manifestation. Perhaps this will be a time of withdrawing from the day to day and stepping back to look at things objectively so that the intent we use for that which we want to manifest will be clear and in harmony with that which is to the highest good of all. In the codices the dog is often shown holding a torch, perhaps referring to the Mayan myth in which the dog brings fire to humans. The dog, one of the most loyal of domesticated animals, was probably used to symbolize guidance, loyalty, and companionship. There is nothing that takes place with pure intent that will not happen. Fire Drum is also appropriate because even in the Bible the Holy Spirit came down upon the people symbolised as fire. This drumming event is the unified beat, vibrations sent forth to create around the planet and out to the galaxy the vibrational frequency of pure light and love. To send out that message of people who believe in a better way and desire to bring forth in our existence that which is in tune with the higher vibrational frequency of love. We are indeed beings of spirit and light, it is now our time to act cohesively as the flow of love and light, spirit and being in harmony. So in fact we are Spirit Drumming. Not just any spirit but that one which holds all that is in perfect harmony. I hope that you who are healers, medicine people, shamans, workers of light, and all who believe in the power of that which we can not see will lead a gathering in your area. This is open to all who want to assist in bringing forth the higher vibrational frequencies of divine healing and love. If you do not have a drum, come to support and there will be drums to be shared I'm sure. Be prepared for healing and the bringing forth in your life that which is to your highest good. Here in Arkansas there is Mount Eagle Retreat (on Hwy 110 just north of Clinton) where there is abundant camping. Since most people have to work, to gather on Saturday and Sunday would be good. There is a healing that occurs when paople gather to sit around a fire, to share, to laugh and to drum. Hope to see you here. If you have space where such a gathering may occur and would like to be a leader of a gathering in your area, send me the info so I can put it on the web page so people who are interested in participating can find where to go. The Maya were attuned to natural cycles. The Maya would ritually light fires about 20 days before the actual date to prepare the people for the actual date. On or near the actual date a ritual would be held bringing the community together, creating a bond. So the Fire Drum gatherings will be our ritual combining the power of drumming with the gathering of people of like minds. |
